iOS 7 Jailbreak Download Ready for Release? Don't be Fooled, Critics Say
Just when you think you can break away from Apple's new iOS 7 and get some breathing room from its powerful yet enticing grip, it reels you right back in.
Many users await the iOS 7 jailbreak, but there's speculation that it may take longer to be released than was initially expected.
"The iOS 7 jailbreak release is likely months off as the brightest minds in iOS hacking work to free iOS 7 and the iPhone 5s from Apple's shackles, but that isn't stopping an un-named individual from using the name of a noted iOS hacker to trick iPhone and iPad users into trading their time for a fake jailbreak," according to Gottabemobile.com.
What does the iOS 7jailbreak service claim to offer?
A remote iOS 7 jailbreak that users can complete right on their iPhone or iPad to install Cydia on iOS 7 and gain access to the jailbreak apps and tweaks Apple will not sell in the App Store.
Are there fees involved in this service?
While "the service doesn't charge users an upfront fee or ask for donations before a release, which many fake iOS 7 jailbreak services rely on, but it does ask users to complete an offer such as installing a game on their iPhone to make money on affiliate fees," Gottabemobile noted.
Why should one jailbreak their iPhone?
Forbes' Contributor Anthony Leather shared his jailbreak story that improved his iOS experience.
"For those not in the know, this (jailbreak) essentially means hacking the operating system and installing a program called Cydia, which is essentially a gateway to a kind of underground iTunes filled with customized apps and features."Hacking, actually, is far too complicated a term these days as the latest free Jailbreak tool from a team called evasi0n is practically a one-click affair. It was so popular that in the six weeks it took for Apple to release iOS 6.1.3 to patch the exploits it used, more than 18 million iOS devices downloaded it, with many more downloading it since. What's more, jailbreaking isn't illegal and won't void your Apple warranty - just restore your phone in iTunes and away you go as before," he explained.
So what's so great about jailbreaking and why do so many people do it? Leather asked.
"Perhaps the easiest way of explaining this is looking at features that were (and weren't) added in iOS7, because many are what iOS owners have been crying out for and are exactly what have been available to those who have jailbroken their iPhones for years."
