Here's our breakdown of how the Apple MacBook Pro stacks up against the Apple
MacBook Air.

Pros and Cons of the Apple MacBook Pro:
The Apple MacBook Pro is available with a larger, 15.4-inch version. It has more powerful
2.2GHz/2.6GHz CPUs compared to the 1.4GHz/1.7GHz processors in the MacBook Air.
It also has relatively higher RAM capabilities and is available in versions that carry up to 1TB of storage.
The MacBook Pro is however heavier and thicker than the MacBook Air.

Pros and Cons of the Apple MacBook Air:
The compact size of the MacBook Air is perhaps the only advantage it has over the MacBook
Pro. It is much lighter and slightly thinner. It is also powered by the latest version of Mac OS
X, the Yosemite, and all the Air models come with SSD storage. The MacBook Air is less powerful, has lesser RAM and storage capacities, and has lower-resolution display.

Specs:
The third-generation MacBook Pro (Retina) has a 15.4-inch IPS Retina display with 2880x1800-
pixel resolution. Apple has also launched a 13-inch model, thought with slightly different specs. The latest
updated version comes in two standard CPU-based models - dual-core, 2.6GHz Intel Core i5
Haswell and quad-core, 2.2GHz Intel Core i7 Crystal Well, with many other options.

The MacBook Pro comes with 8GB of RAM for the 13-inch model and 16GB RAM for the
15-inch model. Users can choose from a wide range of storage options starting from 128GB to
1TB for the 13-inch version and from 256GB to 1TB for the 15-inch model. The 15-inch model
weighs 4.46 pounds and the 13-inch version weighs 3.46 pounds. The Pro is powered by Mac OS
X Tiger. It has a FaceTime HD camera that can capture videos at 720p.

The MacBook Air is available in 11-inch and 13-inch display configurations. The 11.6-inch
model has 1366x768-pixel resolution and the 13.3-inch version comes with 1440x900 pixels.
You can choose the 1.4GHz, dual-core i5 model or the 1.7-GHz, dual-core i7 CPU version. The
laptop has 4GB of RAM, with the option to choose an 8GB version, and supports 128/256GB
SSD storage. The storage capacity is upgradable to 512GB.

The current generation of MacBook Air has FaceTime HD camera and it works on OS X
Yosemite. It weighs 2.38/2.96 pounds and measures just 17mm in thickness.

Talking Points:
The latest and active version of the MacBook Pro was released in July 2014 when Apple updated
the prices and CPUs. The new models featured Retina Display and Haswell processors. It has
an HDMI port, another Thunderbolt port and a new MagSafe charging port titled "MagSafe 2",
which is thinner. The 13-inch model was introduced in October 2012.

The current version of the MacBook Air was released in April 2014. In the latest update, Apple
has upgraded all the Air models and added SSD storage to them. The new versions come in
either i5 or i7 CPUs, and the new Haswell CPUs have drastically increased the battery life in the
laptops.

Prices:
The MacBook Pro is available for price starting $1,099 for the base model on Apple store, while the
high-end model costs around $2,499. The MacBook Air on the other hand costs between $899
and $1,199.

Conclusion:
The MacBook Pro is a more powerful and feature-loaded laptop, and thus makes it the better
option. The MacBook Air is your compact and lighter laptop, but it has almost half the technical
capabilities for its standard models as compared to the MacBook Pro.
