‘Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1’ Premiere and Cast News: Jennifer Lawrence Stuns in a Silver Christian Dior Gown
Last night "Hunger Games Mockingjay - Part 1," one of the most widely anticipated movies of the year, premiered in Los Angeles and its star Jennifer Lawrence stunned the audience with her gorgeous, silver Christian Dior gown, reports Us Weekly.
While most movie premieres use the traditional red carpet, Liongate's "Hunger Games" premiere used a gleaming white floor for its parade of celebrities, reports Vanity Fair. The choice of white is a nod to the sterile environment of the Capitol as seen in the movie's ad campaign.
Panem peacekeepers from the movie storyline kept a watchful eye over the premiere participants amidst the bright white décor.
Lawrence looked striking in a silk jacquard Christian Dior gown. It was quite a change from the shockingly sheer dress she wore during last year's "Hunger Games: Catching Fire" premiere.
The French fashion and luxury goods company said the gown's original floor-sweeping length had been altered to a midi style for Lawrence's premiere promenade, according to Us Weekly. Dior's spokeswoman said Lawrence, 24, chose gold metallic "Linda" sandals by Aquazzura and Vita Fede pearl studded earrings to compliment her beautiful gown. An up do and natural makeup completed her elegant look.
Lawrence has won the hearts of "Hunger Games" fans playing the role of Katniss, but she's also captured the admiration of Producer Nina Jacobsen who was feeling a bit nostalgic about Lawrence during Monday night's premiere.
"It doesn't seem like that long ago that she was auditioning for the part," Jacobson told Variety magazine. "I've got to say that we made a pretty great decision and she's really grown with the part. Like Katniss, she's really stepped up to the plate."
The premiere's after party was held on the Los Angeles Live Deck. The entrance was littered with Styrofoam rubble sprinkled with real white roses in homage to Donald Sutherland's President Snow.
"Mockingjay" opens in U.S. theaters on Nov. 21.
