Miss Colombia 2014 Ariadna Gutierrez Says She Wouldn't Have Won Last Year, Is Honored to Be Compared to Sofia Vergara
Ariadna Gutierrez has just been named Miss Colombia, but the beauty queen is reflecting on the past.
Last year, she was not able to participate in the competition, but Gutierrez is thankful for the way things turned out.
"Last year, Paulina [Vega Dieppa] was going to win," she said according to El Universal. "It was her destiny, and it was her year. I know that she would have beat me, and thank God, I didn't participate. It was her year."
Gutierrez took the year to get ready for the competition. She said that changing her lifestyle during that time was difficult. But now she's ready to continue her journey to represent Colombian women.
The beauty queen is also thinking about the future. One of the things she wants to work on is her physique.
"I definitely have to get to that 'megabody' because the other representatives from other countries will be super prepared and nothing will move on their body ..." Gutierrez said.
Although she was happy to just make it to the top five, Miss Colombia couldn't help crying when she was crowned.
The Colombian beauty queen has also been compared to fellow Colombian Sofia Vergara, but she humbly denied seeing too much of a resemblance.
"I want to meet Sofia," she said. "I want to see her face to face and confirm the similarity, although I see it in some photos. She is an incredible woman, a thousand times more beautiful than me. And it's an honor that I'm compared to such a worldwide iconic beauty like her."
She also had love to share for Taliana Vargas, who Gutierrez described as the queen she admires. Vargas was Miss Colombia in 2007.
Gutierrez added that she and the rest of the beauty queens got along. She felt as though they were part of one family, with everyone helping each other.
"There was always a good attitude, and there was never any friction between the candidates," she said. "We were all very mature."
