Latin Grammys 2014 Schedule & Predictions: Picking the Winners, Live Streaming & President Obama
The 2014 Latin Grammys take place on Thursday night, and Latin Post has information on everything you need to know.
The show, which is hosted by Eugenio Derbez, kicks off at 8 p.m. EDT on Univision, but there will be a live red carpet starting at 7 p.m.
"I have a big announcement this morning," Derbez said when announcing that he was the 2014 host. "When they were thinking of who was going to host the show, many names were brought up, and it turns out, the winner was going to be too expensive, so they had to grab me."
Hopefully, he will bring some of that humor to the show.
Also entertaining the audiences will be artists like Chris Brown, Santana, Pitbull, Ricky Martin, Magic! and Espinoza Paz.
For those who don't have access to Univision, the show will also be available online.
Latin Grammy en Vivo, which is on LatinGrammy.com, will live stream the award show, the red carpet and offer a few extras. The stream will also show backstage interviews with both the winners and nominees.
The awards can also be followed on Twitter through the #LatinGrammy hashtag. Organizers for the event are also encouraging viewers to interact by uploading selfies and a message explaining what the Latin music means to each. Those who want to participate should use the hashtag #LaMusicaLatinaEs.
Several award shows that have taken place this year have given immigration a big platform. Premios La Radio, for example, had a moment specifically dedicated to the undocumented children that have made their way to the United States. Viewers tuning in expecting to see the Latin Grammys will be exposed to President Barack Obama's latest immigration plan.
His announcement will begin at 8 p.m., and Univision plans to air the president's speech by delaying its broadcast of the show. ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC have no plans to show the talk.
Calle 13 has won the most Grammys of any group, and it is the group nominated for most awards, so it will likely walk away with a few megaphones.
Here are Latin Post's picks for the winners of the biggest awards:
