Far Cry 4 Game Update: Ubisoft Releases PS3 and PC Corruption Bug Fix, Kyrat Edition Details
If you are a "Far Cry 4" player affected by the PlayStation 3 (PS3) data corruption bug, Ubisoft has published instructions to help you fix the issue, reports Gamespot.
According to Far Cry 4's Live Updates page, you will need to delete the game from your PS3 hard drive, visit the PlayStation Store and download an updated version. Read the full instructions at Ubisoft's website.
Luckily, only digital copies of the PS3 game have the data corruption bug. Ubisoft assures buyers that future digital versions of "Far Cry 4" on PS3 "should also not be affected by this issue."
PC gamers using external USB devices have complained the game crashes and the screen goes black. Ubisoft has announced a fix, although many players have found disabling USB devices and select drivers fixed the problem.
Bugs aside, "Far Cry 4" is a remarkable video game experience. It takes place in the fictional Himalayan region named Kyrat. The player assumes the role of Ajay Ghale who sets out to fulfill his mother's dying wish to have her ashes spread in Kyrat. A civil war is brewing in the region between The Golden Path and Pagan Min's Royal Army, and Ghale ends up joining the fight against dictator Pagan Min. Players can create their own stories as they traverse through the exotic open world using weapons, vehicles, animals and wits to survive.
"Far Cry 4" delivers heart-hammering shooter action you've come to expect from the series.
Rated M for Mature, gamers can expect blood, intense violence, nudity, sexual themes, strong language and drug use.
"Far Cry 4" was released Tuesday, Nov. 18. It is available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows PC users. You can buy the Standard Edition for $59.99 or the Far Cry 4: Kyrat Edition for $129.99.
The Kyrat Edition includes a Limited Edition game disc with three bonus missions and an in-game harpoon gun, a 7.9" figurine of villain Pagan Min seated on an elephant throne and a 16.5" x 30" Pagan Min propaganda poster, plus a travel journal, a map of the Himalayan open world Kyrat and a collector's box.
