Iggy Azalea is on the cover of New York-based Paper Magazine's October "nightlife" issue. The 23-year-old Aussie rapper recently has been making waves in Hip-Hop with her hit single, "Work."

Azalea came a long way from her breakthrough mixtape "Ignorant Art," which caught attention from so many listeners. Iggy signed to Island Def Jam in April and she's currently readying herself for her upcoming major-label debut album, "The New Classic."

In the magazine, the rapper shares the origin of her stage name: "Iggy" part of her name was inspired by a family dog that had the same name.

"When I was a kid, Iggy was my dog," says Azalea. "But he'd always get in fights and come home covered in blood. One time, he got bitten by a snake. I thought for sure he was going to die, but he'd always make it. Iggy was the runt of the litter, but he always survived. I really loved that dog. He was a tough, cool, determined fighter. He had all the characteristics I admire in people. When he got put down, I got a nameplate necklace with his name. People started calling me that, too."

In addition, Iggy states that she believes Miley Cyrus was inspired by her twerking skills. "I've been doing that onstage for two-and-a-half years," she speaks of the twerking craze that stirred up the nation ever since Miley Cyrus' twerking performance at VMA in August. "She probably fucking watched my videos online and decided to try it."

Iggy Azalea's twerking got famous back in June 2013 at her headlined Bowery Ballroom show in NYC. During the show, she had a "twerk off," which she has been doing for almost all her shows. "We'd been doing that dance-off at the shows, but on one put it online. At the Bowery, they did." The rapper surprised Beyoncé's team, who were in attendance, with her twerking skills, and she later on became the opening act for Queen B during the Autralia and New Zealand leg of the "Mrs. Carter Show World Tour."

Although a set release date has yet to be confirmed, Iggy Azalea's upcoming LP "The New Classic" is scheduled to release in October 2013.
