Rafael Nadal recently underwent stem cell treatment on his ailing back. Fans and analysts questioned the legality of the procedure, but the Spanish tennis superstar reiterated that the process does not fall under doping.

Nadal played down the doping allegations, expressing confidence he did not do something wrong. He pointed out that he will never do such thing if he knows that it could put his career in jeopardy.

"I don't think it's like that," Nadal told El Mundo about the doping allegations against him. "I don't know the exact details of treatment procedure but the thing is that it's being done in line with the international rules. I only do what is allowed and I have never imagined of doing something that is wrong."

Nadal missed the 2014 ATP World Tour Final after undergoing appendicitis surgery. He then decided to undergo stem cell treatment on his back, which has been bothering him since the 2014 Australian Open finals.

According to Nadal, doctors took out blood from him and spun it in a centrifuge to get the growth factor in it before it was re-injected to help his body regenerate tissues on his ailing back.

After the procedure, Nadal said that he has been feeling better than before, which makes him believe that he will be back to his deadly form when the new season starts.

The 14-time Grand Slam champion, who has been slowed down by different injuries this year, said that he is ready to return to training, and he is hoping that he will have a relatively healthy season next year.

"I approach 2015 as always, with the greatest wish that things will go well," Nadal said via SuperSport. "The most important thing is to be healthy, that comes first and foremost."

Aside from back issues and appendicitis, Nadal was also sidelined for three months due to a wrist injury, which forced him to miss his title defense at the 2014 U.S. Open tennis tournament.

"Lots of things happened that did not let me have the rhythm I need to be competitive every month of the year. The goal next year is for that not to happen again," Nadal continued.
