Gina Carano Wonder Woman Movie: Fans Clamor for MMA Fighter to Play Amazon Princess
Wonder woman Gina Carano would make the ideal lead in a Wonder Woman film.
The fan film that was released this past Monday by Rainfall Films has caused a fresh craving for a Wonder Woman film based on the dynamic, scantily-clad DC Comics character, and fans want Gina Carano to play her.
Carano, 31, actress, television personality, fitness model and former mixed martial artist has exactly what it takes to portray the Amazonian warrior princess. She has shown her ability to make a stellar Wonder Woman through features, Fight Girls, Blood and Bone, Haywire and Fast & Furious 6 -- and her remarkable martial art history. She is a natural fighter, and could wear the lasso of truth with confidence.
While some have said that Carano is in talks to become the great heroine, that has yet to be confirmed by the actress or imdb.com. That said, she has voiced her delight that fans think she's perfect to fulfill the role, and she's stated her interest in the project if it ever came into fruition.
"[Wonder Woman is] the ultimate superhero for a woman. No matter what, no matter who ends up being Wonder Woman someday, I just hope it's something that is done correctly. I know it's there and that it could definitely be done correctly. It's just a matter of getting the right people and having the right vision come together. A director and producer and writer have to see the beauty in it and make it real,"Carano stated, honestly.
The bullet-repelling bracelets wearing, invisible jet flying superheroine fights for peace, love, justice and sexual equality. She is a part of the Justice League, and fights alongside Batman, Superman, Green Lantern and many others.
In the past, Wonder Woman has been played by Cathy Lee Crosby, Lynda Carter, Adrianne Palicki, and has been voiced by Keri Russell. While word isn't out on whether a film will be developed to represent one of the most interesting heroes in the cannon, it's been said that The CW, Warner Bros. Television and DC Comics are developing a possible script that will go by the title, Amazon. And, it will be an origin story.
