The Albert Einstein Hospital in Brazil announced that Pele's condition is improving after the Brazilian soccer legend underwent temporary kidney treatment.

According to a statement released by the Albert Einstein Hospital to the Associated Press, the 74-year-old Pele is breathing without any mechanical support and is "lucid" at this point.

Pele was hospitalized on Monday because of urinary tract infection. Reports indicated that the soccer great was put into an intensive care unit, but Pele denied it, saying that he was just transferred to a special room for privacy and there is nothing serious with his current condition.

"I want to take this opportunity to let you know that I am doing fine," Pele posted on Twitter. "I was not put into intensive care today, I was simply relocated to a special room within the hospital for privacy purposes only. While I appreciate all the visitors that came to see me, I really need to continue my treatment and recovery in peace."

Pele's manager, Paul Kemsley, also denied reports suggesting that his client was put into intensive care unit, saying that reports about Pele's deteriorating condition were "greatly exaggerated."

Reports about Pele's deteriorating condition sent shockwaves throughout Brazilian football fans. Pele is considered by many as a national hero in Brazil and arguably the best football player of all time.

Pele's camp said that there is nothing to worry about, saying that the legendary soccer forward will be released from the hospital "in a few days." Kemsley said that Pele will spend the Holidays with his family before resuming his worldwide tour next year.

"Pele plans to spend the upcoming holidays with his family, and in the New Year, he will recommence his busy worldwide schedule," Kemsley said via Yahoo Sports. "Trips to Australia, China, Nigeria and Azerbaijan are already confirmed for the early part of 2015."

Pele, who also underwent surgery to remove kidney stones on Nov. 13, expressed gratitude to all fans and friends for their support, and also confirmed Kemsley's statement about his international trips.

"I am blessed to receive your love and support, and thank God this is nothing serious," Pele said. "I am looking forward to spending the upcoming holidays with my family, and will start the New Year with renewed health, with many international trips already planned."
