MTV Reality Star Ryan Knight Complained of Stomach Pains Before His Death
A former MTV reality star was found dead at a friend's home in his hometown of Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Thanksgiving.
Police were called to the friend's home at about 10 a.m. for a report of an unconscious male who was not breathing, Kenosha News reported. Both friends and paramedics were unable to save him despite several life-saving efforts.
Knight reportedly told his friends on Wednesday that he was in a new relationship and was happy.
A toxicology report is pending, and an autopsy Friday showed no signs of obvious injuries.
Police told Kenosha News that Knight had complained of stomach issues in the two days prior to his death, so his death might either be ruled as medical or accidental.
The former "Real World: New Orleans" star, who lived with seven strangers in the city in 2010, had told the local newspaper being on the show kept him away from his addiction to painkillers.
He became addicted to the painkillers while playing hockey at Arizona State University, where he suffered back-to-back injuries and was prescribed painkillers.
"They prescribed it, and I kind of got too much of it," Knight previously told Kenosha News. "It's crazy how available it is."
He had said then that the pills made him "dull to the world" and stole his personality, but being on the reality show helped him recover. Following the "Real World," Knight participated in several seasons of MTV's "The Challenge."
"Just weeks after the passing of Diem Brown, The Real World family has lost another member. Our thoughts are with Ryan's family and friends," MTV said, according to CNN.
Brown died from ovarian cancer on Nov. 14 at the age of 32.
MTV also released a statement regarding Knight's death: "We are saddened to hear the news of the passing of Ryan Knight. Our thoughts and condolences are with his family and friends at this difficult time."
