Actress Scarlett Johansson married French journalist Romain Dauriac in a small private ceremony on Oct. 1.

Rumors about an elopement circulated after the 30-year-old actress was spotted wearing a wedding band at a fundraiser event in New York City last month, Yahoo reports.

The couple, who just had their first child Rose Dorothy, married in Philipsburg, Montana according to People magazine. A clerk for Granite County confirmed the news.

Us Weekly reports that since September 2013, the now-newlyweds were happily engaged after nine months of dating. They kept the wedding a secret because the new parents both wanted privacy.

In the May issue of Vanity Fair, Johansson talked about her French beau.

"It is [easier being with someone who isn't famous], but it's more than that. We do different things," she said. "He's in the whole art-scene world. So it's nice, because we can enjoy each other's worlds, but we don't have our crazy conflicting schedules and all that other stuff to contend with. And, you know, of course, actors, in general, they're obsessed with emotions. Although, he's French, so he's also probably overly into his emotions."

The actress talked about perhaps settling in her husband's native country.

"I've been thinking lately that maybe it's good to move to some faraway country where you can ski," Johansson told Craig Ferguson in March.

In an interview with WSJ Magazine Johansson talked about her ideal world.

"There must exist a world in which I can balance those things, be able to raise a family and still make a film a year, or work on my own, develop things, do theater," she explained. "I want to be able to have it all."

"The Avengers" star split from Ryan Reynolds in 2010 after just two years of marriage. Reynolds is now married to Blake Lively since 2012, and they are expecting their first child together.

A New York City native, Johansson had a passion for acting at an early age making her first appearance in a comedy film at about the age of 10 according to IMDb.
