Chiquis Rivera Is Not Her Siblings's Legal Guardian, Despite Reports
Chiquis Rivera recently said that she was now her siblings' legal guardian, but court documents reportedly show that this is not yet true.
There will be hearing on Jan. 16 to decide if Chiquis will be Johnny and Jenicka Lopez's legal guardian, notes La Prensa. Chiquis initially asked for custody of her younger brother and sister in 2013, just a month after their mother, Jenni Rivera died.
La Prensa also says that this information has once again sparked rumors that there is a rift between Chiquis and her aunt, Rosie Rivera, who did have custody of Johnny and Jenicka.
Around the same time that Chiquis announced she was her siblings' legal guardian, she also said that Rosie had moved out of their home.
Rosie has previously spoken up about the supposed drama and denied that it is true. Rosie explained that Chiquis was originally supposed to get custody of Jenni's children.
"She's always done it," Rosie said about Chiquis being her siblings' caretaker. "Jenni would go sing on weekends, and Chiquis would stay home with them. She's done this since she was very young. She's dedicated her entire life to these children. She's been their guardian even before there was a paper that said so."
Rosie also argued that stepping aside meant that she could now focus on her career. Rosie wants to focus on her book and her "big, big dream" is to be a talk show host at some point.
Chiquis is also focused on her career.
On Wednesday, the singer posted a message on social media to talk about one of her upcoming appearances.
"This Dec. 12, I will participate for the first time in the third @teletonusa that will be aired on @univion! #SuperExcited #HappyBee #LaMalquerida," she said.
Although Chiquis talks a lot about her career on social media, the singer also regularly posts about her siblings.
