Rolling Stone reports that White first began working with Green Day in the early 90s after his collaboration with Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong on a side project Armstrong was working on outside of the band.
Following their successful collaborative project, White joined the band as a second guitarist for Green Day's 2001 "Warning" tour and was later promoted to lead guitarist in 2012.
Green Day is now set to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April 2015, E! News reports.
In addition to the their Hall of Fame induction, Green Day might also release a new album in 2015, The Guardian reports.
