Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2014: Ariana Grande Gets Slapped By An Angel’s Wing
The 2014 Victoria's Secret Fashion show aired Tuesday night and did not disappoint with fantastic musical performances and a legion of scantily-clad angels, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Fashion and beauty merged as Victoria's Secret Angels Alessandra Ambrosio, Adriana Lima, Karlie Kloss, Candice Swanepoel, Lily Aldridge, and Behati Prinsloo sashayed down the runway in this year's bejeweled and provocative lingerie collection. All the while the angels were serenaded by sensational musical performances from Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran and Hozier.
Here are a few of the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show highlights:
Taylor Swift gave a stellar performance singing her hit song, "Blank Space." The menacing quality of the song added strength and power to the fashion of the show's segment that featured baby pink lace, bows and pom-poms.
Sheeran followed Swift's performance with his ballad "Thinking Out Loud." It created a heartfelt, romantic ambience as Victoria's Secret Fashion Show models Ambrosio and Lima, who have both been working the runway together for 15 years, paraded down the runway each wearing a Fantasy Bra valued at more than $2 million. The lingerie sets-one in red, the other in blue-mirrored each other and contained 16,000 gems along with 18-karat-gold-strung body jewelry, reports TIME.
Grande was smacked in the back of the head by a large pair of pink fuzzy angel wings during her performance, which was missed by the TV audience as CBS chose to edit the blooper out of the broadcast.
The moment was captured in a photograph showing Grande cowering as model Elsa Hosk strikes a pose following the collision. Grande wrote on Twitter about the incident: "a Victoria's Secret angel accidentally smacked me in the face with her wings and it was awesome #goals #bangbangintomyface."
Grande's performance of her four-song medley which included "Bang Bang" and "Love Me Harder" was energetic and definitely live. She was the only singer that had back-up dancers. Grande's spirited music was perfect for the Victoria Secret models wearing fitness attire from the Pink collection.
Irish musician Hozier sang "Amen, amen, amen" during his performance of "Take Me to the Church," and it was by far the most dramatic of the show's songs.
Victoria's Secret, which has a net income of $5 billion, continues to be the most popular apparel brand in the world.
