CIA Torture Report: ISIS Responds to CIA Torture Report
ISIS and other militant groups responded to the United States recent C.I.A. torture report, saying that they are not surprised.
Groups took to Twitter to express their views on the United States.
"Spent force n irrelevant America purposely publish this report on torture to intimidate Muslims. Let me be the first to ignore this CIA crap," Gold Dinar tweeted.
Asad ad-Din Shirkuh tweeted, "Seriously Muslims. Cross reference the 54 nations that were involved in the torture program with the 60 nation coalition for fight ISIS."
Some U.S. officials expected retaliation from Islamic extremist groups.
Ghazi, @aldawlawi_, tweeted, "Members of #IS endured worse than Gitmo in Abu Ghraib etc. This is what radicalized us. You made entire generation of Muslim "terrorist."
He added, "At the end of the day, Bin Laden, Anwar al-Awlaki, Baghdadi, Zarqawi never radicalized me. It was Bush, Obama, Blair, Hollande."
The C.I.A. report detailed some of the torture that took place on Guantanamo Bay after September 11 attacks. The Senate Intelligence Committee released the 528-page document.
The report proved that former President George W Bush ordered a program to combat Islamic militants after the attacks which included severe torture on detainees suspected to be terrorists. Yet, the extreme interrogation tactics were not effective.
Often, C.I.A. officials misled the White House and Congress about the information it obtained, and about the many locations of secret prisons around the world.
"There are some indications ... that the release of the report could lead to a greater risk that is posed to U.S. facilities and individuals all around the world," White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said at a press conference Monday.
"The administration has taken the prudent steps to ensure that the proper security precautions are in place at U.S. facilities around the globe."
ISIS has used Guantanamo in the pass as a reason for its attacks and has gone as far as dressing U.S. prisoners in the same orange jumpsuits given to detainees at Gitmo.
