Daddy Yankee will be the new coach on Telemundo's "La Voz Kids," People En Español reports.

The reggaeton singer said joining the competition series was another challenge in his career.

"I love challenges, trying new things and how good that in this occasion, I am becoming part of this great show," he said.

Daddy Yankee said he had been offered jobs in TV before, but he has always been too busy to take them on. "La Voz Kids" is going to allow him to still work on his career.

The artist added that he is looking for more than talent for his team.

"Not everything is about talent," he said. "On Team Yankee, we will be looking for talent, charisma, discipline, responsibleness, perseverance and the best attitude. Talent is part of this journey, but it's not everything."

Daddy Yankee also said that he is working on a new album, and he is collaborating with Don Omar, J. Balvin, Wisin and Yandel.

"Lots of good music, musical surprises are coming," he said. "All these challenges that fall on me as the face of the movement will be heard on 'King Daddy.' It's an album where there's lots of different musical colors, where there's a lot of different kinds of styles in the urban world. The people are always waiting for the newest things from Daddy. There's always that expectation."

Daddy Yankee said his family will have to get use to his new routine.

The show will premiere in spring 2015, and he will be splitting his time between Puerto Rico, where he lives, and Orlando. The show films in Universal Studios, but Daddy Yankee is excited because he calls Orlando is a "mini Puerto Rico."

His children won't be able to see him on the show, but he said his wife might occasionally be able to attend.
