Xbox One Release Date, Price, Games & News: Next-Gen Console Will Have 5-Minute In-Game DVR Recording
Microsoft has found a smart way to advertise its Xbox One games and brand by introducing the ability to have automatic DVR recordings during special achievements.
This not only helps Xbox One expand the brand through social media and other platforms but also caters to the consumer by making it much more convenient to capture video. It used to be that gamers were forced to search for external recording systems in order to capture their favorite moments during gameplay, but now it will require no extra work.
According to Gamespot, the Xbox One will continuously record about 5 minutes of game action at a time. However, recent reports say Sony's Playstation 4 could record as much as the last 15 minutes of gameplay, though the final amount could be as low as 7 minutes, still more than the Xbox One.
Xbox One users will only be able to share the recorded content on Xbox Live, but it is anticipated that the content will be able to be shared on social media sites such as Facebook in the near future.
"It's called Project Upload. So the idea is you're always recording," Microsoft said to GameSpot. "So we have a ring buffer game DVR, basically. So the last five minutes of any game you're playing is always being stored locally on your hard drive."
Yet again, the PS4 seems to have the advantage in a wide variety of categories, and it is expected to outsell the Xbox One upon the launch in mid-November.
