Floyd Mayweather Jr. expressed desire to face Manny Pacquiao in a potential blockbuster showdown on Cinco De Mayo weekend on May 2 next year.

Mayweather gave a strong indication that he is ready to face Pacquiao next year, calling the Filipino boxing icon out on Friday night. The reigning pound-for-pound king declared that he wants to collide Pacquiao to give the public the fight that they have been clamoring for over the past several years.

"We are ready. Let's make it happen. May 2. Mayweather versus Manny Pacquiao. Let's do it," Mayweather said during a Showtime interview, ESPN reported.

Boxing fans have been asking the two boxing superstars to go up against each other since 2009. Previous negotiations for the fight went down as the two camps failed to find a common ground.

Top Rank Promotions CEO Bob Arum recently said that the fight is getting harder to arrange because of Mayweather's demands and reluctance to face Pacquiao.

Mayweather took a swipe at Arum and Pacquiao on Friday, though, saying that Pacquiao's camp should stop saying that he is ducking "Pacman" because he has been very interested in facing the eight-division champion.

"Floyd Mayweather is not ducking or dodging any opponent," Mayweather said. "Bob Arum is stopping the fight. We have been trying to make this fight happen behind the scenes for years now, but the fans and the people have been fooled because they have been listening to people just on one side. Now it's time for us to talk. We want the fight."

Mayweather pointed out that the fight could have happened before if Pacquiao agreed to undergo random urine and blood testing. The unbeaten junior middleweight and welterweight champions also said the he offered Pacquiao $40 million, but his 35-year-old rival turned it down.

While he is willing to face Pacquiao, Mayweather insisted that his camp will not offer the same amount of money, pointing out that the reigning World Boxing Organization welterweight champion has lost to Juan Manuel Marquez and Timothy Bradley, and his recent pay-per-view fights did not generate ideal revenue.

"I offered you $40 million, then you didn't want to make the fight happen. You lost twice, now you coming back begging for the same money. That is not gonna happen," Mayweather said. "Let's make the fight happen for the people and the fans. Mayweather versus Pacquiao, May 2, Cinco de Mayweather."
