For the first time in three decades, Sunday Night Football on NBC was out-rated by another cable network show, that show was The Walking Dead. Since it's inception in 2010, The Walking Dead has risen to become the most watched cable television series in history, boasting a record 17.3 million viewers for its Season 5 premiere. But nobody anticipated that any show could beat the greatest ratings machine of all time, the NFL.

Aside from the fact that The Walking Dead won going head to head with Sunday Night Football, it has also ended the NFL's streak of having the most watched cable television show for 27 years.

The show is so wildly successful in fact that a spin-off series has already been confirmed. Though it is doubtful that a new series could live up to the adventure that Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, and others have taken us on, it will certainly be interesting. It has now been confirmed that The Walking Dead spin-off will be located in the city of angels, Los Angeles, California. Notifications for location scouting have already been popping up.

There is no confirmed titled as of yet and so it remains the unnamed Walking Dead 2.0. There is speculation that the new series will actually be a prequel of sorts, chronicling the start and attempted containment of the disease that causes "walkers."

The Walking Dead will pick back up again in February and has already been renewed for a 6th season by AMC. Recently the show had grown so successful that there had been contract disputes over the pay of the actors. AMC whether cleverly or diabolically, uses a lot of "character churning" to help keep salaries low. Basically what this means is they don't pay very much because your character could die at any moment. Andrew Lincoln, please don't die.
