'Grandes Temas de Telenovela' 2014: Thalia, La Banda el Recodo & Alejandro Fernandez Among Artists Singing Their Best Telenovela Theme Songs
Now that "Va Por Ti" has ended and "Nuestra Belleza Latina" is still a few weeks away from starting, Univision is getting creative with its Sunday night schedule.
On Dec. 21, it is hosting "Grandes Temas de Telenovela" starting at 8 p.m. EST, notes Univision. The event has been put together by Univision and Telemundo.
TV producer Luis de Llano promises a lot of surprises.
"It's a special event we've been working on for a long time," he said to Univision's "Hoy."
De Llano explained that artists would be joined by choruses and that this special was allowing for a different audio-visual concept.
The special was filmed on a stage that first didn't look like much. De Llano explained that it was a white background but that it changed as artists performed.
"Each song has a different visual theme," de Llano said.
The actors in telenovelas do not always sing the theme songs to their telenovelas, so it's not common to see the artists in the opening credits.
One exception to this is Thalia. She sang the theme songs to her three famous telenovelas–"Maria la del Barrio," "Marimar" and "Maria Mercedes"–and she will be performing all of them at Sunday's event.
Other telenovelas that will be represented are "La Fea Mas Bella, "Cuidad con el Angel," "Lo Que La Vida Me Robó" and "La Tempestad." Yuri, Mijares, Daniela Romo, La Banda el Recodo, David Bisbal and Alejandra Guzman are a few of the stars that will be present.
De Llano said that along with being able to watch the show on TV, viewers can also watch backstage footage by tuning in online.
The event is not live, as footage was shown on the "Hoy" segment.
Televisa has also put together a Spotify playlist for the event. Listen to it below.
