2015 NFL Free Agents: Top 10 Free Agents & Possible Destinations This Offseason
The 2014 NFL regular season is coming to a close, and for the 20 teams who don't make the playoffs, a lot of big decisions will have to be made.
Improving an offense and defense shouldn't be a troubling issue for teams this offseason because the 2015 free agent class is as good as it gets.
Here are the 10 best free agent players for 2015:
1. Justin Houston
Maybe the most underrated player in the NFL. The Kansas City Chiefs linebacker has recorded 43.5 sacks in his four seasons in the league, and wouldn't you know it, he leads the league in sacks this season. Houston is still just 25 years old, and he shows no signs of slowing down.
Possible Destinations: New England Patriots, Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints
2. Dez Bryant
Dez Bryant is one of the best wide receivers in the league today, and Jerry Jones would love to re-sign him. If the price is too high, the Cowboys may have to let Bryant walk and test other options. The Cowboys also have another big up and coming free agent, which you will find below.
Possible Destinations: New York Jets, Kansas City Chiefs, Tennessee Titans
3. Darrelle Revis
Darrelle Revis and the Patriots are in a pretty interesting situation here. Unless the Patriots exercise their team option to bring Revis back next season for a $25 million cap hit, he will automatically become a free agent. Revis has played well this season under Bill Belichick's defensive system.
Possible Destinations: Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Bears, Jacksonville Jaguars
4. Demaryius Thomas
Of course Demaryius Thomas has benefited greatly from having Peyton Manning throw to him, but the reality is, he's great wide out. Thomas is tall, big, physical and can make all the catches with his fast route running abilities. There's a good chance Thomas will re-sign with the Broncos since Manning took a huge pay cut.
Possible Destinations: Oakland Raiders, Denver Broncos, St. Louis Rams
5. Ndamukong Suh
Ndamukong Suh has expressed interest in playing in New York, and this offseason he'll have the opportunity to do just that. The Detroit Lions have one of the best defenses in the league this season, and teammate and defensive tackle Nick Fairley is set to become a free agent as well.
Possible Destinations: New York Giants, New York Jets, Kansas City Chiefs
6. Jason Pierre-Paul
Even though the Giants are having a terrible season, defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul has been playing great with 9.5 sacks. Still just 25 years old, JPP could be a great addition for a team that needs a passer rusher with veteran Super Bowl experience.
Possible Destinations: Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints
7. DeMarco Murray
Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray has been the best runner in the NFL this season with 1,687 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground. There's no doubt Murray is great, but running backs just don't have as much value as they used to. Murray also has a few injuries and fumble issues as well. There's a good chance we will see Murray elsewhere next season.
Possible Destinations: Arizona Cardinals, Indianapolis Colts, Seattle Seahawks (if Lynch is cut)
8. Randall Cobb
This year, the Green Bay Packers signed their best receiver Jordy Nelson to a four-year deal. Now, the Packers have to negotiate to re-sign their second best receiver. Don't count on the Packers breaking the bank for Cobb considering they have an elite quarterback throwing the football.
Possible Destinations: Oakland Raiders, St. Louis Rams, Carolina Panthers
9. Julius Thomas
Just like Demaryius Thomas, Julius Thomas (no relation) is in the final year of his contract. Thomas isn't the greatest blocking tight end, but he is without a doubt one of the best catching tight ends in the NFL today. The only questions now are: what will the market be for him, and how much does he want?
Possible Destinations: Denver Broncos, New York Jets, Washington Redskins
10. Jeremy Maclin
Probably the most underrated wide receiver in the NFL today. Maclin has stepped up big time with DeSean Jackson no longer on the team. Maclin has 78 catches for 1,207 yards and 10 touchdowns this season. He did tear his ACL last year, thus missing the entire season.
Possible Destinations: Kansas City Chiefs, Jacksonville Jaguars, Carolina Panthers
Other notable free agents include: Nick Fairley, Devin McCourty, Greg Hardy, Brandon Flowers, Michael Crabtree, Mark Sanchez, Mike Iupati, Tim Tebow, Knowshon Moreno, Ryan Mathews, Frank Gore, Stevan Ridley, Shane Vereen, CJ Spiller, Wes Welker, Doug Free, Orlando Franklin, B. J. Raji.
