Vanessa Hudgens 2013: 'Machete Kills' Actress Stays Away From Drugs, According to Cosmo on Campus
Machete Kills' Vanessa Hudgens recently stated in the Fall 2013 issue of Cosmo on Campus, "I stay away from drugs...I have never liked to party."
Hudgens, known for her roles in Spring Breakers, High School Musical, Sucker Punch and Thirteen, is not a stranger to controversy. She's faced frivolous lawsuits from former associates; confronted accusations of cocaine abuse critics and several publications; and defended herself against nude photos emerging on the web in 2007, and again in 2009. None of which, according to Hudgens, indicates that she is wild child or a party girl.
Hudgens recently sat down with Cosmo On Campus to talk about her aspirations to attend college to study photography or film, her strong bond with best friend Ashley Tisdale, how to console heartache, the LA club scene and, most interestingly, on being drug free. While the star is known to indulge in wine to help keep the worries away, she made it clear that her intake does not exceed that.
"I stay away from [drugs] because I know it's smart to steer clear. I have never liked 'partying.' I love dancing, but that's as far as it goes. It's tough because a lot of clubs are everything I loathe, especially in LA. They're always very ego-filled and people get up to mischief. It's just not a pure environment."
She spoke of her love of dancing twice during the interview, saying that it was a good way to perk up a friend who has gone through a break up, and again when mentioning the L.A. club scene. But, on not using drugs, some websites and critics would disagree. In 2011, the former Disney star was photographed at the Coachella Music Festival using, what some critics would say, cocaine. Hudgens immediately rejected this claim, and said that it was white chocolate -as the substance was evidently creamy and not powdery.
"It's one thing to have a chat with someone, it's another to have them know your deepest, darkest secrets. Just because people enjoy watching you in films doesn't mean they have to know everything about your entire life," she stated in an interview with Marie Claire.
She also stated that she is a human, and prone to make mistakes, even if she is supposed to be a role model.
