Fabolous Hot New 'The Young OG Project' Release and Quotes 2014: 'Baby' Singer Talks '90s-Inspired Album, Drops 'She Wildin' With Chris Brown [Listen]
Fabolous has finally released his '90s-inpired sixth studio album "The Young OG Project," which features a hot Chris Brown-assisted track "She Wildin."
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the Brooklyn emcee explained how his latest project is directly influenced by 1990s hip-hop.
"It's kind of like a vanity project. I kept getting these beats that were inspired by '90s records, so I just busted some raps on top of 'em," he said. "I felt like I'm a good person to represent that because I've been around since the late 90s, and I'm still putting out music, 15 years later."
With that being said, Loso has reunited with Breezy, who previously collaborated with him on 2012's "Ready," to create a remake of Nas and the Bravehearts' hit "Oochie Wally" (although the throwback song was technically released in 2000). On the track, instead of the chorus' repeating refrain "Oochie Wally," the duo delivers similar sounding, "Ooh, she wildin'."
"The 90s, to me, is the golden era of hip-hop -- it's when I fell in love with it," the "You Be Killin' Em" hitmaker said. "There was everything from gangster rap, to backpack rap, to flashy, flossy rap, to dance rap, to pop rap, to female MC rap. There were so many lanes and styles, and that's one of the things that helped it flourish."
Fabolous' 11-track "The Young OG Project," which he released instead of "Loso's Way 2: Rise to Power" according to Complex, was clearly inspired by a song called "Young OG" off his highly acclaimed mixtape "Soul Tape 3."
"The Young OG Project" was released on Dec. 25 and features various collaborations from Rich Homie Quan, French Montana and Kevin Hart among others. It is currently available for digital purchase on iTunes.
