Kanye West Jimmy Kimmel Feud: Pair Reconciles & Show's Ratings Boosted [VIDEO]
Kanye West appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" after his "rap feud" with the show's host. The infamous feud broke out, leading to a Twitter war, when the "Yeezus" rapper got offended by Jimmy Kimmel's spoof of which two kids reenacting the rapper's recent BBC Radio 1 interview.
There were some speculations whether the feud was a publicity stunt, and West denied on the show.
"I've never done a publicity stunt in my life," he said. "Anytime I went up and spoke my mind, whether or not it put my career in jeopardy, or whatever someone so-called said, it was always what I thought was the truth... I don't follow rules of normal celebrities or whatever their publicist tells them to say. I don't do publicity stunts. Period. Don't ever think that."
The rapper explained why he got so upset at Kimmel's parody.
"If you guys look at the Zane [Lowe] interview [with BBC Radio 1], it's really something extremely fearless for someone in my position to do," said Kanye. "Most people bow down to TV, or bow down to these cameras. I could care less about any of these cameras, in all honesty. All I care about is my family. I care about protecting my girl, protecting my baby and protecting my ideas and my dreams and that's the reason why I went so crazy."
Kanye West also admitted that he hadn't even watched the full spoof before attacking the late-night host. He talked about why his feud with Kimmel escalated, and forgave Jimmy Kimmel for airing a spoof making fun of his inflated ego.
"Jimmy does his thing. I do my thing. At a certain point, these egos can flare up. We kind of just took it to high school a little bit."
Kimmel showed his apologetic side by giving a present to West -- he gave Kanye a pair of leather jogging pants for his baby daughter, North West.
The show ended nicely, and it seems that the beef was good for the show after all. According to early Nielsen projections, the show's rating certainly went up after Kanye West's appearance. "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" won the evening for ABC after drawing a 1.2 in key advertiser-coveted 18-49 age group demographic and a 2.5 household rating.
