"30 days Without an Accident," The Walking Dead Season 4 premiere, made fans hunger for more blood, gore and zombie slaughter as it introduced new characters and new threats Sunday, according to Hollywood Life.

The premiere episode opened with scenes showing the fortified jail now transformed into a thriving community in the grim, post-apocalyptic world of zombies. The group in the jail expanded, with Woodbury evacuees assimilating into Rick's circle pretty peacefully. (Take a peek here).

Things look cheery inside the prison, with Rick taking on the new role of a farmer, a more stable peacekeeper and with Karl keeping busy with helping raise livestock (he even names one pig Violet) for the group. Daryl and Carol, emerging as new leaders in their own right, seem to be in-love, and so are Maggie and Glenn, who are trying to (foolishly) conceive their first child. Even Beth seems to be on a romantic roll with a young boy. Tyreese and Karen have also become an item, reports NJ.com.

Unfortunately, in the post-apocalyptic world of the hungry undead, 30 days is too long without an accident. While on a food run, Rick encounters a woman so unkempt she could be mistaken for a walker. She pleads for Rick to help her, and to possibly welcome them in Rick's camp, and the sheriff agrees only if the husband would answer three questions. She begs Rick for food for her and her famished husband, but it turns out Rick was the food, as she attacks him while they were nearing her camp. Rick manages to avoid being the meal, but his encounter with the woman gives him perspective. The woman kills herself, and tells the sheriff that there are things "you don't get to come back from," according to TV Line.

Meanwhile, the group from prison goes for a grocery run, with Daryl and Michonne (Danai Gurira) leading the way. Confident that they've previously cleared the area of walkers, the group didn't know there's a crowd of zombies on the roof. When one of the prison newbies creates too much noise by knocking over a wine rack, this stimulates the zombies and the undead to fall through the rotting roof. A gory fight unfolds and Daryl's group ends up with one casualty - Beth's new boyfriend.

While all of this was going on, Carol astounds the audience by turning an idyllic story-telling session for the kids into a self-defense class, a move she had been hiding from Rick now witnessed by Karl. One of the boys from the class falls ill and collapses in the shower dead. Unfortunately, he comes back as a walker in no time at all.

Thus, the tone of dread, chaos and death once again hangs in the air over the fortified village of Sheriff Rick Grimes.
