Mexican Singer Gloria Trevi's Life to Hit the Big Screen
A Swiss filmmaker says he just had to bring the life of Mexican singer Gloria Trevi to the big screen, Fox News Latino reported.
The 28-year-old filmmaker Christian Keller said he is working on the film "Gloria," as an original project that tells the interesting life story of the Mexican singer. He became interested in the life of Trevi when she was released from prison a decade ago.
"I'd never heard anyone talk about her and I learned her story when she got out of prison, and I thought it would be a good story to tell on film," Keller said.
Keller read a story in the New York Times about Trevi's prison release after a three-year-sentence. The Latina singer's life was filled with scandals during her time as a popular but controversial singer. She even thought about going into politics.
She was known for her unique style dressing in wild clothes and wearing her hair in different kinds of outrageous ways. In her prime, Trevi was known as the "Mexican Madonna."
Gloria faced three years in prison on multiple charges including kidnapping, sexual abuse and corruption of minors in Mexico.
Yet, Keller was not biased about the singer when he approached her for the video project.
"The good thing is that I was able to see her without any preconceived notions about who Gloria Trevi was, simply looking at it as the story of a human being and not the scandals in which she was involved," Keller said.
"It was pretty easy for me to separate the scandal because since I'm Swiss I was not so involved in the story and did not have prior information or any idea who Gloria Trevi was," he added.
The movie will start with Trevi meeting her former manager Sergio Andrade and end with them seeing each other for the last time at a prison in Brazil.
