Nicki Minaj Hot New Music and Album 2014: Rapper Opens Up About Abortion on 'All Things Go'
Rapper Nicki Minaj opens up about an abortion she had when she was a teenager in high school that "Haunted her all her life," Rollingstone reported.
She dated an older man back in high school before her long relationship with Safaree Samuels. She told the magazine, "I was a teenager. It was the hardest thing I'd ever gone through." She recalled thinking that she was going to die.
"It'd be contradictory if I said I wasn't pro-choice. I wasn't ready. I didn't have anything to offer a child," she said.
Nicki first opened up about the abortion in a track called "Autobiography" from her 2008 mixtape, Sucka Free, Yahoo! reported.
Minaj also referenced the incident in her new album on a song called "All Things Go." She talked about her decision as she made a reference to wanting to see her younger brother Micaiah Maraj become successful.
She never expected anyone to hear it but now that she is super popular, fans listen carefully to every word she says.
"Millions of people are gonna hear it. And you gotta watch everything you say - people find an issue with every f**king thing," she said.
The "Anaconda" singer split with her boyfriend Safaree Samuels of nearly 12 years and had to go through the break up publicly.
"I had to learn to do something as simple as sleep alone," she said about getting over the breakup. "I struggled with 'Do I express these feelings?' And I decided there's no reason for me to hide. I'm a vulnerable woman, and I'm proud of that."
Nicki opened up about being in a much happier place now that she is able to get over Safaree in an interview with Power 105's Angie Martinez, Perez Hilton reported.
The rapper expresses her feelings in her new album "The Pink Print."
It is still hard to function sometimes because she had her boyfriend by her side throughout her entire time being famous and have not been single for over 12 years.
