A new year often brings sentiments of hope and renewal for many across the globe.

For automaker General Motors, though, the first day of 2015 only brought more of the same.

According to Reuters, GM announced three brand new recalls that apply to roughly 84,000 sport utility vehicles, or SUVs, along with the company's pickup trucks. The recalls were first reported by The Wall Street Journal and Detroit News.

These newest recalls target the activation of the affected vehicle's airbags, along with power supply to engines as well. Fortunately, GM reports that no crashes, injuries or fatalities have occurred as a result of these issues. The findings were published in an internal company review.

The engine power problem is related to the ignition lock actuator. Affected vehicles may have an external diameter that's larger than specifications dictate it should be. This could result in the ignition key getting stuck in the start spot.

The three new recalls apply to some Chevrolet Silverado pickup trucks, along with Chevrolet's Avalanche, Tahoe and Suburban. Also impacted are GMC Sierra pickup trucks, Yukon and Yukon XL. Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV and Escalade EXT are part of the roundup as well.

Also of note is the fact that models from 2011 and 2012, along with units from 2007 to 2014, are affected. The latter range applies to GM autos which were fixed using broken parts.

One of the recalls also addresses a defective part in 56 Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD pickup trucks, both of which are 2015 models.

Another of the recalls addresses the rear axel shaft on 152 2015 Chevrolet Silverado trucks and GMC 1500 trucks. There's a possibility that this part on the affected vehicles could crack while the units are in motion.

Although the company is choosing to recall over 80,000 vehicles to address the problem related to the ignition lock actuator, GM anticipates that less than 500 vehicles will actually need to be worked on to correct this issue.
