Microsoft has made it a priority to market the incoming Xbox One game console as one that will allow users to interact beyond just the gaming platform itself. In the latest move to revolutionize gaming, Xbox spokesperson "Major Nelson" has introduced fans to a an app on the Xbox One called the Friends App.

With this Friends App, gamers will be able to experience something similar to Twitter, where people can have thousands of "followers" and anybody can be followed. Although this sounds a little bit like an invasion of privacy considering that anyone can be followed, users can still choose what they want to show and can keep certain things private for only certain friends to see.

This app seems to be more like an extension to the Xbox 360 friends list, which allows people to see what their friends are playing and can chat with them via Xbox Live. However, this app is taking the technology to the next level.

With this new app, people can carry on with what they are doing while a feed remains on the right side, just like you would see on Twitter. The significance of this compared to the 360 is that the former console would only allow you to check what your friends were doing by clicking a button on the controller. Now anyone can check what their friends are doing by simply looking at the feed perched on the right hand side of the screen.
