Kendrick Lamar Hot New Music Release 2015: 'i' Rapper Reveals His New Year's Resolution
While fans are anxiously awaiting his sophomore studio album release, Kendrick Lamar recently shared his New Year's resolution.
The Compton emcee, who has always been trying to change the world through his music (for instance, his self-empowering track "i"), humbly hopes to keep up and continue what he has been doing.
"My New Year's resolution is not being stagnant," he told XXL. "Everything is subject to change. One thing about men and women or whoever, we hate change. It's something tough to adapt to."
"Not being stagnant is something that I wouldn't call a resolution, I would just say a continuation of what I'm trying to do," he added. "I'm still growing at it. I'm still attempting and practicing that today, so in 2015 I'm hoping to get a little bit ahead of myself and get further with it."
Meanwhile, the yet-to-be-titled follow-up to Lamar's critically acclaimed major-label debut "good kid, m.A.A.d city" is expected to be dropped early this year. Peter Rosenberg, co-host of New York radio station HOT 97's "The Morning Show," previously discussed his four-track preview of the TDE rapper's upcoming record.
During a November edition of "The Realness," Rosenberg said that he was quite impressed with K. Dot's latest project. "After the interview, I was privy to hear some of the new music from Kendrick Lamar that will appear on his next album dropping some time in early 2015," he said. "Yes, Kendrick Lamar somehow has developed even more, gone to another level. He's talking about Black righteousness. He's talking about Africa. There's social commentary."
The radio DJ then claimed that Kendrick Lamar's highly anticipated album is quite similar to his "good kid" record: "There's all kinds of deep thoughts... There are deep thoughts throughout. However it is upbeat music that is gonna thrive in the club and on the radio. However, just like 'good kid m.A.A.d city,' you can hear there's no attempt to make club music."
