Fans Can Soon Watch HBO 'Game of Thrones' Season 4 Episodes, Exclusive Trailer in IMAX Movie Theaters
Fans of HBO’s "Game of Thrones" will get a special treat this winter as two episodes of the George R.R. Martin blood and thunder fantasy and an exclusive trailer for Season 5 of the Peter Dinklage-starring saga will play on IMAX theaters across the country between Jan. 23 and 29.
This is the first time a television series will be screened in IMAX theaters, Entertainment Weekly reports. The chance to watch the last two episodes of "Game of Thrones" Season 4 on IMAX will take place at over 150 theaters across the U.S.
Martin, a man who has consistently toiled away in the sci-fi, fantasy and horror genres since 1970, is happy but a bit ambivalent about how the success of the TV series has slowed his work on the novel series and is even a bit suspicious of the kind of attention it has garnered.
“It's a terrific feeling, knowing you have not only a lot of readers or viewers, but that they're so intense, and bringing so much thought and interest to bear,” he told Rolling Stone in May. “But maybe that's part of what's slowed me down -- the knowledge that so many people are looking at every line, and waiting on every turn and scene. We have the untold-history book coming out later this year, where I've written a fake history. I find it amusing, and secretly pleasing, that I have so many fans who are interested in the history. I'm not sure if they would so eagerly study real history, you know? In school perhaps they're bored with all the Henrys in English history, but they'll gladly follow the Targaryen dynasty.”
"Game of Thrones," Season 5, is still a few months away from its official return this spring.
