During a recent appearance on "The Graham Norton Show," Academy award-winning actress Meryl Streep opened up about her bad audition experience when trying out for the lead role in Dino De Laurentiis Sr.'s 1976 film, "King Kong," Mashable reports.

Prior to obtaining her celebrity status, Streep tried out for the role of the leading lady in the 1976 film but was denied the role because she was apparently "too ugly" to play the film's star, she said.

Streep explained, as she walked into the audition room, De Laurentiis commented on Streep's unattractive look in Italian.

"Che brutta!" De Laurentiis allegedly told his son, which Streep translated as meaning "Why do you bring me this ugly thing?"

Little did De Laurentiis know, Streep is fluent in Italian, and she responded in Italian to his negative words with her own snarky comment which translates, "I'm sorry I'm not beautiful enough to be in 'King Kong.'"

Mashable reports Streep's lost opportunity in "King Kong" later went to actress Jessica Lange.

Prior to Streep's shocking revelation on "TGNS," her "Into the Woods" co-star, Anna Kendrick, revealed another surprising thing about Streep during an appearance on "Watch What Happens Live" with Andy Cohen.

During her appearance on Andy Cohen's "Watch What Happens Live," Anna Kendrick participated in a game of "Cinder-Tell-A" where she dished on what her "Into the Woods" co-stars are really like off-camera.

Cohen initiated the game with a question about Streep, Kendrick's co-star.

Kendrick revealed, despite her many accolades and celebrity prestige, Streep is "just kind of a bro."

She added, "You think she's going to be cold and regal like you have to talk to her about very serious things, but she just wants to have a beer and talk about the MTV Movie Awards."
