"New Girl" star Zooey Deschanel is pregnant with her first child.

People magazine confirmed the star is expecting her first child this summer with Jacob Pechenik. The 34-year-old has been dating her 42-year-old producer boyfriend since mid-2014.

"Jacob and I are over the moon. We are so excited to meet our little one," Deschanel said.

Deschanel worked with her boyfriend on her new movie "Rock the Kasbah," which also stars Bruce Willis and Kate Hudson, according to Express. The movie is about an American music manager who discovers new talent in Afghanistan.

Pechenik also produced "Devil's Knot" in 2013 and "She's Funny That Way" in 2014.

Back in July, Deschanel split from her boyfriend of two years, Jamie Linden. Before that, she was married to Ben Gibbard of indie rock band Death Cab for Cutie. The couple married in 2009 and split after just two years of marriage.

Zooey's romance with beau Pechenik got out when they were spotted holding hands in Venice Beach, California. After that, they made their red carpet debut at the 66th Emmy Awards.

The "Yes Man" actress said last year she was angry people often ask her if she is ready to start a family.

"Nobody asks guys that," Deschanel said at the time. "And you get into a supermarket, and every tabloid is like, 'Pregnant and Alone!' ... They are stuck in the 1950s ideal of how a woman should live her life. This brings out the fiery feminist in me."

Meanwhile, it remains unclear how Deschanel's pregnancy will into the "New Girl" storyline. There is no news yet on how the pregnancy will be incorporated into the show, according to a FOX representative, Zap2it reports.
