Aussies have been craving the Fitbit Surge but still have to wait until February to get their hands on the fitness tracking smartwatch.

The Fitbit Surge is designed for the very active and very determined runner or fitness-minded individual. It has a built in GPS, a heart rate monitor and more.

Australians will pay $349.95 in Australian dollars for the Fitbit Surge; that's a little under $290 U.S. dollars. The U.S. model is currently for sale for $249.95. Aussies, however, cannot just buy an American model and have it shipped to their country. Because of the on-board GPS and other factors, they will have to wait until "early February" to use a Fitbit Surge, CNET reports.

Meanwhile, Americans are loving the Fitbit Surge.

"I've had my surge for a week and love it! I've been a Fitbit user since late 2011!" Stephen Turner said via Facebook.

"When I received the Fitbit Surge, I nearly popped a blood vessel with excitement with trying to open the (explective) packaging," Gabriel Chong said on Amazon.

Americans are able to easily order the Fitbit Surge. Most websites will offer free shipping, but this varies.

Before buying a Surge, make sure you need all the features it offers. Fitbit Surge is geared toward the fitness fanatic who wants to know everything about their daily activities and where they have been. If you need less features, there are other Fitbits available at cheaper prices.

The Fitbit brand owns about 70 percent of the fitness tracking market according to data from the NPD Group. Other trackers are available from other brands like Jawbone, but Fitbit has quickly become the industry standard.

Before beginning any fitness or dieting program, consult your doctor to make sure you are ready. Having a Fitbit really motivates you to get off the couch and move around.
