Fitbit Surge Review, Price & Features: Is the Fitness Smartwatch Only for Workout Fanatics?
The Fitbit Surge may not be right for every individual, but the $250 fitness tracking smartwatch is enough motivation to get even the most lazy couch potato up and moving.
The Fitbit Surge is not cheap, but it gives users a ton of features when you buy one.
Heart monitor
In the past, in order to get a heart rate monitor, you had to strap an annoying piece of rubber across your chest. Now, all you need is the Fitbit Surge smartwatch.
Battery Life:
The Fitbit surge has up to seven days of battery life, Apple Insider reports. For such a powerful watch, this is impressive.
The watch's battery life may vary based on how much you interact with the device, however, but at least you will not have to charge it every single night.
Screen
A color screen would have been nice, but the Fitbit Surge only has a monochrome display that shows all your much-needed data like steps, calories burned, time active, sleep stats and more. For lowlight situations, the Fitbit Surge has a backlight. Additionally, the Fitbit Surge is a touchscreen device.
The Strap
The watch features a comfortable strap that will give you the ability to wear the device at all times of the day.
GPS
The built-in GPS is unique. This means, if you want to head for a bike ride or run and track where you have been to be later uploaded to your phone or computer, you will not have to bring your phone or another bulky GPS device. The highly anticipated Apple Watch is not expected to have GPS built into the watch, so the Fitbit Surge is a good option if you're interested in this feature.
Silent Alarm and Sleep Mode
When you are in sleep mode, Fitbit Surge will do its best to measure the quality of your sleep. If you move around or wake up during the night, the Fitbit Surge will calculate that into your sleep quality score. When you are ready to wake up, set a silent alarm, and the Fitbit Surge will vibrate your wrist in the morning.
Fitbit App
Fitbit Surge users end up collecting a lot of date, and thankfully there is an app for that. The official Fitbit App works seemlessly with the Fitbit Surge and syncs wirelessly with Bluetooth or wired with the USB cable that comes in the box.
Review
Although some say the Fitbit Surge is for the workout fanatic or enthusiast, it really can motivate even the most sedentary individuals to get up and walk around. When someone sees they have only walked 1,000 steps (10,000 is the goal) in a day, they likely will want to get up and move around to get their step count up.
The price is high for a device, but if you have tried other workout methods and are not counting calories burned or steps taken, the Fitbit Surge could do the trick for you.
