Burbank police are investigating the death of fitness model and reality show star Greg Plitt Jr. after he was struck and killed by a passenger train on Jan. 17 at around 4 p.m.

Police have ruled out a suicide and believe Plitt was filming a fitness video on the tracks, CNN reports. Officers don't know who gave Plitt permission to film in a restricted area.

Plitt filmed fitness videos on the railroad tracks prior to the accident. A video posted on his YouTube channel two years ago shows Plitt working out on tracks as a train rode by.

Burbank police officer Scott Meadow told The Associated Press witnesses saw Plitt standing on the track despite the train's horn blasting, USA Today reports.

Meadows believes Plitt may have mistaken the track he was standing for a parallel track.

"It's like a blind turn," he said. "When the train came, you might not be able to tell which set the train is on."

According to his website, Plitt appeared in over 250 fitness magazines and in films and television shows. He also graduated from West Point and served in the U.S. Army for five years.

Plitt is known best for appearing on Bravo's "Work Out," a reality show about fitness trainers and models in California. He also recently shot an episode for the network's new series, "Friends to Lovers."

Bravo's Andy Cohen tweeted about the Pitt's death.

"We couldn't take our eyes off Greg Plitt after we cast him on 'Work Out'-was as nice as he was beautiful. Seemed invincible, like Superman," he said.

Bravo also tweeted about the loss of Pitt.

"This is a terrible tragedy. Our thoughts and deepest sympathy are with Greg Plitt's family and friends at this extremely difficult time," the network said.
