Fitbit is not the only fitness tracker on the market. Sure, it may be the one most talked about, but Jawbone, Sony and Garmin offer alternatives. Are they better than Fitbit though?

Let's take a look at three alternatives to Fitbit fitness trackers.

First, Jawbone, maker of Bluetooth headsets and other wearable devices, decided to enter the fitness tracking market with the UP models.

The UP24 is affordable, under $100 on Amazon. This device uses LED indicator lights to display a user's progress.

Syncing your daily data is a simple with the UP24. It uses Bluetooth, but it requires a smartphone that has Bluetooth, so make sure you have that before buying one of these.

Battery life is an impressive five to seven days. If you set too many vibration alarms, though, the battery will not last as long.

The UP24 has a weird way of being connected. Instead of closing like a watch, the tracker is more like a bracelet (a strange one).

Garmin is known mostly for their car GPS systems, but they too offer a fitness tracker.

The Garmin ForeRunner is designed for runners. It comes in a few different colors based on your liking.

The problem with this tracker is it does not sync to smartphones directly. But, you will get Garmin's GPS capabilities with this watch, calories burned, steps taken, distance traveled and, if your opt for the optional heart rate sensor, heart rate tracking.

Instead of connecting wirelessly with Bluetooth, you will have to upload your data to your computer at home with the USB cable included in the box. Then, with the app installed in your phone, it will push the data from the website to your app. That could get a little annoying for some.

For $139, it is a great runners' watch. It fits right on your wrist, and it includes GPS. If you are a runner, get this watch.

Finally, Sony offers a tracking device called the Smartband Talk. This is half smartwatch and half fitness tracker.

The reason why it is sort of a smartwatch is because you can talk to it and use it as a cell phone (if you want).

Of course, most people will be working out hard or running when using their Smartband Talk. It has all the features you want in a fitness tracker, except GPS.

You will be able to track your steps and calories, and it looks like sleep tracking will be added soon.

It is a water resistant device, so it can be worn showering but not swimming.

The Smartband Talk also has some included apps like weather and audio player. You will be able to play your audio through your smartphone (Android only).

Available for a little over $150 on Amazon, the Smartband Talk received four stars (out of five).
