The surviving members of girl group TLC made a huge announcement on Monday.

Tionne "T-Boz" Tenese Watkins and Rozonda Ocelean "Chilli" Thomas posted an exciting Tweet on Monday.

"It's OFFICIAL. We are making a FINAL ALBUM. We need YOU to make it happen on @kickstarter!!!! https://kck.st/1BtgHsi," they said.

TLC plans to follow up its 2002 release of the album "3D."

"We wouldn't dream of making our final album with anyone BUT our fans. Come on y'all, BE A PART OF TLC HISTORY!" the R&B group wrote on the Kickstarter page,

Within a few hours of the Twitter post, the group raised more than $50,000, a third of its $150,000 goal. At the time this article was written, the TLC had raised $68,834

Fans who help fund the album can choose from perks. Those who donate $15 will receive the digital record, fans who donate $35 will get their "name in our digital album booklet and on our website," and supporters who donate $100 will receive a signed vinyl edition of the album. Meanwhile, those who give $250 will receive a voicemail from Watkins and Thomas.

"This album, our FINAL ALBUM, is dedicated to all of you that have stuck with us, always challenging us to do our best. And of course, it's for the new fans too! ;) We just want to put out great music that touches everyone. That's it," the band wrote on Kickstarter.

Watkins and Thomas also state on the fundraising page that major labels offer artists multimillion dollar recording and marketing budgets but don't often give artists complete control of their own music.

"It is ESSENTIAL that we create our final album completely on our own terms, without any restrictions, with YOU," they wrote.

TLC says it is creating the album with the spirit of band member Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, who died on April 25, 2002, in a car accident in La Ceiba, Honduras when she swerved off the road to avoid hitting another vehicle. She was 30 years old.

According to TLC, they have enlisted key members from their original team, including Kandi Burruss. The ladies will announce more team members and news in the days to come.

The final album will be the fifth studio album from the band that brought fans popular songs like "What About Your Friends," "Waterfalls" and "No Scrubs."
