Chris Brown Arrested And Charged With Felony Assault In Washington D.C.
Chris Brown, who recently promised his fans to drop 5 songs prior to the release of his upcoming album "X," was arrested and charged with felony assault early Sunday in downtown Washington D.C.
The "Fine China" singer allegedly got into an argument with 20-year-old Isaac Adams Parker in front of the W hotel located on Pennsylvania Avenue and 15th Street, which eventually led to a physical altercation. D.C. police spokesperson Paul Metcalf said that the incident started around 4:25 a.m. local time, and a 35-year-old male who was with Brown was also arrested in the incident and faces the same charge.
Brown was hosting a party at the hotel, and the incident started when Parker attempted to get into a photo with the 24-year-old singer. Chris Brown, who reacted by saying, "I'm not down with that gay s--t, I feel like boxing," threw a punch in the victim's face and Chris Hollosy, Brown's bodyguard, threw a second punch. The injured man was taken to the hospital and had been released as of Sunday afternoon. He sustained bruised and swollen nose.
The R&B singer is no stranger to legal trouble. He was arrested in 2009 after he turned himself in to the Los Angles Police Department after beating then-girlfriend Rihanna. Brown pleaded guilty to a felony and accepted a plea deal of community labor, five years' formal probation, and domestic violence counseling.
Chris Brown also got involved in highly publicized altercations with fellow singers - in a bottle-throwing brawl with Drake and a fight with Frank Ocean over a parking spot, although no criminal charges were filed in those incidents. Brown had his probation reinstated in early August after he was involved in an alleged hit-and-run accident, where he was driving without his driver's license. He recently reached a civil compromise with the driver of the car.
This incident marks Brown's third violation, and ff Sunday's arrest is determined to be a violation of his probation, then he could be locked up in prison up to four years. He's due back in court on November 20 in Los Angeles to update a judge on his probation. Brown will be held until court on Monday, since he is reported to be on probation and not eligible for release until seeing a judge.
