Today is the NFL's trade deadline and there are suddenly a handful of teams looking to make a move before time runs out.

Most notably, Minnesota Vikings star defensive end Jared Allen has generated interest from other teams that are looking to boost their defensive units before the second half playoff push. It was reported that the Vikings were seeking a second round pick for Allen and that the Seattle Seahawks were interested in his services.

If the Seahawks were to acquire Allen, it would bolster the squad's already-solid defense into a completely dangerous group of players that could potentially be one of the best we've seen in the NFL in recent years.

One of the reasons the Vikings are looking to ship Allen is because of his hefty $14 million salary that he is carrying this season alone. Furthermore, the Vikings are not in playoff contention and probably won't be anytime during the rest of the year, making such a trade easier and understandable considering Minnesota's desire to rebuild into a contender again.

"It's not even something I've got to worry about right now," Allen said. "I got no control over that stuff. It is what it is. I understand the league. I understand how it works. I'm not an idiot. But my goal is to play football. My goal is to go out and play and win. I go out every Sunday and I just give it everything I've got. Sometimes it's spectacular, sometimes you get double-teamed and sometimes you just can't get there on time. And then sometimes you lose. But losing in this kind of fashion, I don't know how to explain it."

Other players that have been discussed ahead of this year's deadline include Browns receiver Josh Gordon as well as Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald.

No moves have been made yet.
