Kanye West Instagram and Quotes: Rapper Explains Why He Never Smiles [Pics]
Kanye West certainly has a lot to smile about -- his multi-talent, successful music career, fame, money, gorgeous wife and adorable baby daughter -- but why does he look so sad all the time?
While giving a speech at Fashion Los Angeles Awards on Jan. 22, the Chicago emcee finally explained why he refuses to smile. He claimed that he was actually inspired by a history book he found at a Parisian flea market.
"Back when I was working on 'Yeezus,' I saw this book from the 1800s and it was velvet-covered with brass and everything," he told the audience. "I looked at all these people's photos and they look so real and their outfits were incredible and they weren't smiling."
'Ye then revealed another strange reason: "And people, you know the paparazzi, always come up to me, 'Why you not smiling?' and I think, not smiling makes me smile. When you see paintings in an old castle, people are not smiling cause it just wouldn't look as cool."
Kim Kardashian revealed why she also tries not to smile, as she took to her Instagram account last month:

Meanwhile, West released a brand new collaboration with Rihanna and Paul McCartney on Saturday night.

Titled "FourFiveSeconds," the ballad track features an organ, several layers of the Barbadian star's vocals and the Beatles legend's acoustic guitar strums, all complementing the G.O.O.D. Music boss' emotional rap verse.
"Now I'm four, five seconds from wildin' / And we got three more days 'til Friday," RiRi sings the hook. "I'm just tryna make it back home by Monday mornin' / I swear I wish somebody would tell me / Ooh that's all I want."
"FourFiveSeconds" is now available via iTunes.
