Nokia Lumia 1520 Release Date Delay: Windows Phone 8 Smartphone Availability Pushed to November 22 with Xbox One Debut Date [Video]
The Nokia Lumia 1520's new release date has leaked after an apparent mistake on the online Microsoft Store reported otherwise.
On Nov. 6, the online Microsoft Store began accepting pre-orders for the new Lumia 1520 Windows Phone 8 smartphone.
The website featured the 16GB internal storage model for $199 when the consumer signs a new contract with mobile carrier AT&T. The online Microsoft Store also accepted consumers to pre-order the Lumia 1520 without a contract for $549.
On the online Microsoft Store, the website noted the Lumia 1520 would start shipment on Nov. 15.
Before the 12 p.m. EST, the online Microsoft Store removed the device and was not accepting pre-orders.
Microsoft issued a statement about the Lumia 1520's removal from the online website. The Redmond-based organization stated the device was up "prematurely."
According to Microsoft, the company will still honor the pre-orders made during the time the device was available.
WPCentral has now reported the removal of the Lumia 1520 from the online Microsoft store occurred due to a change in its release date. Microsoft will reportedly release the latest Windows Phone 8 device on Nov. 22 in order to coincide with the Xbox One launch.
The change of the release date was spotted in an inventory image obtained by WPCentral, which also noted the Nokia Lumia 2520 tablet will launch on the same week as the Lumia 1520.
The Lumia 1520 features a screen size of 6 inches with 1,920x1,080 resolution. The camera specifications for the device include a 20-megapixel rear-facing camera and a front-facing camera with 1.2 megapixels. The Lumia 1520 will only be available in a 32GB internal storage model, even though the Microsoft Store has a 16GB variant. The device has 2GB of RAM and offers a microSD card slot for an additional 64GB of storage. The battery capacity for the Lumia 1520 stands at 3,400mAh, which offers up to 25.1 hours for talk time in a 3G network, and approximately 780 hours on standby.
The Lumia 1520 was first introduced during Nokia World in Abu Dhabi on Oct. 22 along with the Lumia 1320 and Lumia 2520.
