Microsoft's next set of Lumia smartphones could be more powerful than Samsung Galaxy S6 smartphones due to the processors in each phone.

Rumors from Digitimes detail that Samsung will be dropping the powerful Qualcomm processor, the Snapdragon 810, from its new phones. Microsoft seems glad to insert the processor into its new phones.

In March at the Mobile World Congress, Microsoft could possibly introduce the newest Lumia phone, and it will likely utilze the Snapdragon 810, CNET reports. This would perhaps mean that Microsoft would have a more powerful phone than Samsung due to having a more powerful processor.

Microsoft, LG and Motorola have all backed the new Snapdragon 810. Samsung has not given their support to the new processor from Qualcomm. Instead, it looks like Samsung wants to put their own processor, the Exynos, into the Galaxy S6 phones.

Samsung feared that the Snapdragon 810 chips would overheat its phones and that 80-90 percent of its first-to-be-released Galaxy S6 phones would contain the Exynos processor instead.

Galaxy S6 phones could eventually start getting the Snapdragon 810 chips but not until a full three months or so of them having the Exynos chips.

LG has already said that the Snapdragon 810 chips are giving its G Flex 2 phones no issues.

"We've had no issues with the Snapdragon 810 in our G Flex2 which launched this week in Korea after lengthy quality testing," LG spokesperson Ken Hong told CNET. "We attribute that to our engineers understanding the importance of that balance. We can only assume that others who haven't had this level of success haven't put the same kind of effort into their device design."

The processor in the Lumia will matter because it will allow Microsoft to put in advanced features like wireless charging, super high definition cameras (up to 55 megapixels) and more.
