It looks like first daughter Malia Obama might be heading to New York City in a couple of years.

The 16-year-old high school student was spotted touring some of the most prestigious colleges in the Big Apple on Friday.

According to the Gothamist, Malia and her mother, first lady Michelle Obama, took a tour of New York University in the morning before heading uptown to Columbia University in the afternoon.

"Malia was all smiles and seemed like a really nice person," Columbia student Johanna Fuller, who snapped a photo of the First Daughter on campus, told the New York Daily News.

According to NYU Local, an anonymous tipster rode in an elevator with the FLOTUS and Malia during their visit.

"Our tipster accidentally entered the elevator with the Obamas, who were joined by an admission ambassador and several members of the Secret Service for a private tour of Goddard Hall. They also reportedly visited Weinstein Hall." The tipster added, "Apparently everyone was told that the elevators were 'shut down' for the 10 minutes they were in the building... but I knew the truth!"

After visiting Columbia, which is President Barack Obama's alma mater, the Obamas had lunch at Community Food and Juice on Broadway off 112th Street in Morningside Heights. That's where Barnard music and anthropology major Courtney Craig, 21, sat a few tables down from the First Lady, telling the Daily News that Mrs. Obama "dined with other adults I did not recognize, and her daughter, Malia, sat at a separate table nearby with a group of her friends. There were about 10 Secret Service agents sitting inside the restaurant, and about seven big black SUVs outside."

She added that "everyone stood up and clapped for" the First Lady as she left with smiles and waves.

Malia is currently a junior at the prestigious Sidwell Friends school in Washington, D.C.
