Luis Miguel News 2015: Source Claims 'No Se Tu' Singer Missed Concert, Left 7,000 Fans Waiting Because He Was 'Drunk and Drugging Himself'
Luis Miguel reportedly did not show up to a concert, where 7,000 fans were left waiting.
According to People En Español, some people spent $400 to see Miguel in concert on Feb. 7 in Merida, Mexico. The show, which took place at the Coliseo Yucatan, was supposed to kick off at 9 p.m., but publications state that at 11 p.m., a man addressed the crowd and said Miguel was in his hotel and couldn't make it because he was drunk.
"The artist Luis Miguel plain and simply went into his room, asked for bottles of alcohol and he is drunk," said Jorge Rejon Boyancé, director of logistics for the venue, according to El Universal. "He is in his room getting drunk and drugging himself; that's the truth."
On Monday, Miguel's team released a statement saying the issue was with the singer's plane.
"Unfortunately, because of technical issues with Luis Miguel's aircraft, it was impossible to arrive on time at the location of the night time concert this past Saturday in the city of Merida, Yucatan," the statement read, according to TV Notas.
The rest of the note said Miguel regretted the incident and hoped to find a time when the concert could be rescheduled.
Now, the lawyer for Coliseo Yucatan is speaking out against Miguel and the statement released by his team. Jose Gabriel Castillo Peralta alleges Miguel was already in his hotel before the concert began, but the Coliseo team has changed its reasoning on why Miguel was a no-show.
"Our official position is that for the Feb. 7 event Luis Miguel did not arrive to sing, and we do not know the causes of it," Castillo Peralta said, according to TV Notas. "Together with the authorities and the company, we took steps to refund tickets."
TV Notas asked the lawyer who was recorded telling people that Miguel was drunk, and he said he had no idea.
