'La Gata' Cast News: Maite Perroni Says It Was an 'Honor' Working With 'Committed,' 'Respectful' Daniel Arenas
In "La Gata," Daniel Arenas played Maite Perroni's love interest, and on Saturday, the actress dished what it was like working with her co-star.
Ahead of the series finale this week (read spoilers here), Perroni stopped by "Sabado Gigante" to chat with host Don Francisco.
"I've really enjoyed this project," Perroni said. "It's a project that has really let me enjoy the essence of the character in an authentic location, a location that has given the story a lot of life."
El Borde de Xochiaca, which is a landfill in Mexico, got the cast members in the right mentality, she said. Perroni, who portrays Esmeralda, credits the smells, sights and people with helping make it a memorable experience.
Although Daniel Arenas, who played Pablo, was her love interest on the show, it was a relationship filled with many twists and turns. Pablo and Esmeralda had a nearly impossible love as people meddled in their relationship because the two came from different worlds.
Pablo's mom was particularly opposed to his being with Esmeralda.
Luckily for Perroni, working with Arenas was not complicated.
"Daniel Arenas is a great companion," she said. "The truth is that it's been an honor to work by his side because he's respectful, a gentleman, educated, committed. We make a good team. You can work really easily with him because we were both 100 percent committed to the project and we had a nice friendship."
Perroni and Arenas showed off how strong their friendship was during Univision's New Year's Eve celebration. After Perroni performed, Arenas told her she looked beautiful and seemed genuinely happy for the actress.
Perroni returned the compliments.
"I feel fortunate to have shared 2015 alongside Daniel Arenas," she said. "We're happy to say goodbye to this year with Univision."
