Ontario Mother Finds $800 Worth of Marijuana in Angry Birds Game Purchased at Target
Police are looking to investigate a case after a mother said she found $800 worth of marijuana in her 4-year-old son's toy she bought at an Ontario Target store, CTV News reports.
Peel Region police say the mother told them about the toy after finding a vacuum-sealed bag of marijuana in an Angry Birds game box.
The drugs were sent to a lab for confirmation of what type of drugs the mother found, according to Constable Thomas Ruttan.
No other toy boxes had drugs in them after police went to the Target store where the mother said she purchased the game in Brampton, Ontario.
Police officials are conducting an investigation where they are thoroughly going through video surveillance footage and purchase records at the Target store.
Ruttan said finding drugs in a toy box was "not your everyday occurrence."
Investigations are aiming to figure out if the box with the marijuana in it had been tampered with in any way.
The parent, Lewis Pagayatan, bought his son Angry Birds Telepods for just $5 at the Target store, according to The New York Daily News.
The boy's mother, Monika Milewska, was the one who discovered the 85 grams of marijuana when she finally opened the box at home.
"That night my son was horrified," Milewska said. "He could not sleep on his own and kept asking us questions -- why was it in his toy? Who put it there? What was it?"
She added, "I guess Target lived up to their slogan, 'Expect more, pay less.'"
Peel police continue to search the Target store surveillance footage and receipts to figure out who placed the drugs there.
"We may have to go back a month," Ruttan said. "We don't know how long it was there."
Target gave the boy a replacement toy although the parents are upset that they now have to explain what drugs are to their 4-year-old son.
