Miss Universe Paulina Vega Talks Boss Donald Trump, Having Short Reign
The new Miss Universe, Paulina Vega, is adjusting to her new life in New York, though she is soon getting a break from the cold weather.
The beauty queen is gearing up to travel to Indonesia and Dubai, and she will eventually get to go back home around April, she said in an interview with Viva, according to La Nación.
Though she misses the weather in Colombia, she said it hasn't been that difficult. In fact, it has been a bit familiar.
"[In Colombia] the organization also handled my schedule," she said. "I also couldn't decide for myself, not even if I wanted to go out with a friend. All that, asking permission, following rules, protocols, certain behavior, social media, being in hotels alone or with chaperones. Only the cold has hit me hard."
As for her boss, Donald Trump, Vega said he was a mix of "serious" and a "prankster." She also said she was intimidated by him because he is a well-known figure, but he has welcomed her "with open arms."
Vega said he took her on a tour of his offices, where she ended up taking photos with just about everyone. She now considers Trump like "another dad."
Because the 2014 Miss Universe pageant took place in January 2015, it has been said Vega will have the shortest reign. Vega does not know if this is certain because, though she doubts the competition will take place again in January, she does not know when it will happen.
Either way it does not bother her.
"I also had the longest reign as Miss Colombia," she said. "When I turned in my crown, I had just a month to do what I needed for Miss Universe."
China has been rumored as the next location for the Miss Universe pageant, but it's not certain yet. Vega just said it's a "great possibility that it will be" in China.
