Mayor Rob Ford makes headlines by attempting to defend his image once again. Thestar.com discusses some of the details on his interview with Bill Weir for the Anderson Cooper 360 Show. Toronto's Mayor discussed the truth behind several allegations made about him and claimed that he's "the best father around" which left people interested to hear...well...how? The conversation became so intense, that at one point Ford got so angry that he tried to stop the interview all together. His brother, Doug Ford, managed to keep the peace between Rob and Bill by asking his brother to "settle down". The first part of the interview aired Monday morning, the full interview airs Monday night on CNN.

Bill Weir, of course touched on the allegations of Mayor Ford's substance abuse, which became public in 2013. Although Ford later on admitted to using crack cocaine "during one of his drunken stupors" according to Wikipedia, he is still being investigated by the Toronto Police Service and questioned by the media. Weir also felt he would be of help to the controversial mayor by suggesting he see an addiction specialist. This is what blew Ford out of the water; he replied, " I'm not an addict! You guys can spin it, you can tell it all you want" then adding; " This is the thing, I don't look at myself as the mayor, I look at myself as just a normal everyday person".

Once Doug Ford, Rob Ford's younger brother, who was present in the background during the interview, was able to calm him down, Weir had one last question/statement for Rob. He continued by saying; "I know a lot of people who would party their brains out, but...they're parents now, I'm sure you are insulting your children from what's going on". This is when Mayor Rob gave the answer heard around the world; "Absolutely, I'm the best father around". He continued to claim that when his children Google him "he will explain what they are hearing and that he is straight forward with his kids" asking Weir if he should just walk away? Dismiss them? "No, I don't walk away from anyone, Bill...in life".

Mayor Rob Ford continued to talk about the "rich elitist crooks" whom he is sick of and how he is not an addict or an alcoholic. Mayor Ford claims that people just don't know him and that they can continue to "laugh at him all they want" but the people of Etobicoke, Ontario, his hometown in Canada, know him. I guess that's all that matters to "the best father around". He might just be right about being liked by his fellow Canadians since he is still the Mayor of Toronto, even though some of his mayoral responsibilities were passed over to Deputy Mayor Norm Kelly. Maybe it's his honesty and non-chalet attitude that keeps Rob Ford relevant to his supporters. What do you think of this mayor normal everyday person?
